Get to Know Your Vintages With Freewheel!

Freewheel Holidays have added a number of holidays, which centre around chateaux, vineyards and the wines they produce. Of course, we don't encourage cycling whilst under the influence - but we certainly insist that you sample as much as you can between journeys. Below are a couple of cycling holidays, suited to wine fans. (Click on the title links to view the tour pages)

Burgundy Wine Lands (7 nights)
Of course we The area of Burgundy between Dijon and Mâcon has one of the world’s greatest concentrations of fine wine names: Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet are just a few of the famous names signifying the excellence of Burgundy wine. Cycle through sleepy villages and rolling countryside, and sample some of the best wine Burgundy has to offer. The holiday starts and ends in Dijon, which has excellent train links, and now a direct flight from Southampton.

Bordeaux - The Medoc (5 or 7 nights)
The Médoc is the huge wine producing area to the north west of Bordeaux. Names like Margaux, Pauillac, and St.Estèphe are world famous and synonymous with fine wine. Every village in the area is associated with wine and hundreds of wine châteaux will dot your route through the Médoc. The quiet roads are perfect for cycling especially for first timers, whilst the backdrop changes most days, from vineyards to countryside to coastal routes on days 5 and 6.
