Extend you stay in Venice or Pore?

This holiday takes you through three countries – Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia – as you follow the Adriatic Sea east from Venice through the ancient lands of the old Venetian Republic. You cross the Venetian Lagoon by ferry and vaporetto to Punta Sabbioni, from where the coastal journey begins.

Your route is dotted with charming towns like Caorle with its historic centre of brightly painted houses and piazzas, Portogruaro with its grand houses, Aquilea with its Roman excavations, and the attractive port city of Trieste. The beautiful castle at Miramare set in parkland is a particular attraction close to Trieste.

You cross into Slovenia near Trieste and visit the attractive coastal resorts of Piran and Portorož on the Istrian peninsula. This area was ruled over by the Venetian Republic for centuries and the architecture of its towns is testament to this.

The final border you cross delivers you into Croatia and the town of Porec, a holiday resort but also an historic town with an ancient, well-preserved centre. The Euphrasian Basilica, rebuilt in the 6th century and now a Unesco World Heritage site is the most renowned attraction.

You return to Venice from Porec by fast ferry in 2½ hours. Please ask us if you would like to book additional nights in Porec, or in Venice at the start or end of your holiday.
