The widely known Karlštejn castle and of course Pilsen, with its tradition-steeped brewery and the imposing Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. There are plenty more discoveries to make as the Danube breakthrough at Weltbenburg abbey will impress you. This bicycle tour is simply guaranteed to astonish and delight!
Day 1: Individual arrival in Munich
Individual arrival in the Bavarian capital. Here, you should take some time to visit the numerous attractions such as the English Garden or the townhall, or just enjoy the hustle and bustle of the capital pass by with a delicious beer at the Hofbräuhaus.
Day 2: Munich – Freising, approx. 40 km
For the first part of your journey, you will follow the course of the Isar river. Dreamy flooded forests and the calming rush of the river will ride alongside you for the whole day. The goal is to reach the old diocesan town of Freising. Explore the 1300 years of history it has to offer amongst the impressive monuments and historic buildings.
Day 3: Freising – Bad Gögging, approx. 70 km
You will leave the Isar behind to join the Abens bicycle path. This leg of the journey is characterised by rolling hills, lush meadows and idyllic villages. You will pass through Hallertau, the world’s largest continuous hop-growing region. You will quickly reach the health and spa resort of Bad Gögging on the Danube, via Abensberg.
Day 4: Bad Gögging – Regensburg, approx. 60 km
Following the course of the Danube, you will cycle to reach Kelheim. Here you can marvel at the magnificent view of the Danube gorge between Weltenburg and Kelheim. At the Weltenburg Abbey, you can hop on a ship and observe the cliffs up close from the water (not included; price: approx. €11 per person with bike ticket included). The UNESCO World Heritage Site Regensburg is your finishing point of the day, make sure to visit the esteemed constructions such as the cathedral and the Stone Bridge.
Day 5: Regensburg – Cham, approx. 75 km
Take long stroll through the city and then cycle on to follow the beautiful course of the river Regen and pass by gorgeous deciduous forests, floodplains and natural landscapes. Take a well-deserved midday break in Roding, known far and wide as the gate to the Bavarian Forest. Meander along the twist and winds of of the river Regen, to reach Cham, your final destination of the day.
Day 6: Cham – Domazlice, approx. 55 km
A tour of the over 1000-year-old Cham will fascinate you before you hop onto your bike for the next part of the journey. To start, you will follow the banks of the river Chamb, which will quickly lead you to the “Drachenstich” town Furth im Wald. The “Drachenstich” is Germany’s oldest folk theatre piece that re-enacts ‘the slaying of a dragon’, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each year. On a tour through the dragon caves, you will allow you find out all there is to know about the story of the Furth im Wald dragon, the theatre piece as well as the technology behind the world’s largest 4-legged walking robot! The Czech border is just a few kilometres away from Furth. Once you have cycled across the border and on the Bohemian side, the road will lead you straight to Domazlice.
Day 7: Domazlice – Pilsen, approx. 70 km
Be charmed by the lively folklore traditions of Domazlice, nestled in untouched nature, the centre is home to numerous colourful Renaissance houses with pergolas. You will then continue on to pass through beautiful landscapes and visit lots of small villages on your ride. A good Pils is the perfect end to the day and makes up for any tiring sections along the way.
Day 8: Pilsen – Beroun, approx. 70 km
In large parts of today’s route, you will pedal your way through tranquil landscapes and nature parks with small, idyllic villages like Dobřív scattered along the way. Beroun, your final destination, invites one to linger a while, and explore its mediaeval city walls!
Day 9: Beroun – Prague, approx. 45 km
The last stage of the journey will start off to follow the river Berounka. You will then reach Karlštejn. The High Gothic castle was built in 1348 and is known far and wide. The Berounka joins the Vltava shortly before Prague, this river will then lead you right into the city centre of Prague. The Czech metropolis is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. End your bike tour with a perfect evening stroll through the Czech City.
Day 10: Individual Departure, Transfer Service or Extension
Your tour ends after a delicious breakfast. Make use of our comfortable transfer service with the bicycle transport van or take the opportunity to explore Prague further and extend your trip for a few more days.

The quality of the varies widely. The well signposted route follows both well-paved cycle paths and bumpy, unsurfaced dirt tracks and forest trails. You will mostly cycle along separate cycle paths and secondary roads, with only a few sections featuring heavier traffic. Please note that the Czech part of the route includes some steep climbs and requires a good level of fitness.
We recommend flying to Munich airport to reach the starting point of this cycling holiday.
Flights are available with a number of airlines to your required airport or you can travel to the start using alternative methods such as rail or road.

About the Rental Bikes
This cycling holiday uses quality crossbar and unisex hybrid bikes. Quality Shimano components and puncture-proof tyres are among the components that will ensure you have an enjoyable cycle tour.
You will also receive a handlebar bag and map holder for easy navigation while. Prices advertised on the website include standard bike hire (unless stated). Colour and specification may vary from the image shown.

Accessories
If you would like GPX files for a suitable device, please request them at the time of booking. Devices are not provided. Please ensure you bring any fittings required to attach the Garmin (or similar) to the handlebars. You might want to download maps onto your phone to avoid data charges when roaming.
All bikes are provided with standard flat pedals. You can bring your own cycling pedals but ensure that you have the correct tools to remove the pedals if the tour does not have a welcome meeting. You may also not be able to travel through airports with the tools if you are carrying hand luggage only.
You can rent a men's bike with a crossbar, unisex/female bike with a sloping tube or an electric bike for a supplement.

Frame Sizing
When you make a booking with us, we take your height(s) and the appropriate bike size is matched up accordingly. Unisex frame 21-gears with freewheel. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 / 43 cm. Unisex 7-gears-bikes with back pedalling brake. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 cm. Men’s speed bikes 21-gears with free wheel and crossbar. Sizes: 64 / 60 / 56 "sloping" cm. Helmets are not provided, and you will need to bring your own to use.
We always recommend wearing a helmet when on your cycling holiday!
Bike Hire Insurance
This cycle tour benefits from bike insurance against rental bike theft and damage in the holiday price. Please make sure you lock up the bike, leave it where told by the hotel, and treat your hire bicycle as if the bike was your own. Any negligent treatment of the bike will exempt you from cover. We advise you to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance for your cycling holiday prior to arrival.
Electric Bike Hire
Why not upgrade your cycling experience to an E-Bike (Electric Bike)? Using a power assisted bike is a great way to go on a cycling holiday and will help you smooth out inclines or longer days in the saddle. Each E-Bike features an LCD display, removable batteries for easy charging, and assistance up to 25 km/h. They have a range of around 120 km for each full charge.
