Take in the small galleries and museums of Nykøbing, the rich history of Gavnø Castle and the beautiful beaches this picturesque landscape has to offer. Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings as you row and sail across the fjord in a replica Viking ship before taking the opportunity to visit Tivoli when you reach your final destination of Copenhagen.
Beginning on a Saturday in Rostock you’ll take the Scandlines ferry (included) to Gedser where you’ll embark on your ride through the Danish islands of Falster, Møn and Zealand to wonderful Copenhagen.
Day 1: Arrival in Rostock
Make your own way to Rostock, where you’ll stay overnight before beginning your tour through the Danish islands of Falster, Møn and Zealand to Copenhagen.
Day 2: Rostock - Nykøbing / Falster, approx. 42km
Your ride begins as you make your own way this morning to the seaport of Rostock. A 2-hour crossing on the Scandlines ferry (included) to Gedser on the island of Falster before you cycle via Marielyst to Nykøbing. Visit the artisans, small galleries and small museums on the way to Nykøbing where you’ll find tonight’s accommodation.
Day 3: Nykøbing / Falster - Næstved, approx. 78km
Cycle up to the island of Zealand and visit Næstved, one of the oldest towns in the country. Take a detour and experience the history, art and nature of to Gavnø Castle and the castle park which contains more than 1/2 million flower bulbs, a rose garden and many rare species of plants and trees. In the surrounding area of Næstved, you’ll find the Candy Land and a glassworks to visit before staying overnight in Næstved.
Day 4: Næstved - Korsør, approx. 65km
Your journey continues further northwest through the landscape of the Great Belt. Beautiful beaches and dune landscapes surround the holiday and fishing village of Kaerebaeksminde. Find out more about the history of this picturesque village with a visit to The Fisheries and Town Museum. Art galleries with changing exhibitions can be found in Kaerebaekstorp. Before you cycle on to Korsør, where you’ll find your accommodation, you should taste the freshly smoked fish at one of the smokehouses.
Day 5: Korsør - Sorø / Ringsted, approx. 50-60km
Today you’ll discover one of the most beautiful replicas of the Viking Age in Denmark as you travel west of Slagelse to Trelleborg. Visit the mighty, 10th century, Ringburg before continuing along the road to Ringsted. Both the five-towered church and the old town with its leaning houses are well preserved.
You’ll stay the night in Ringsted and the surrounding area.
Day 6: Sorø / Ringsted - Roskilde, approx. 45-63km
You’ll discover the coasts and fjords near Roskilde today as you cycle first to the Iselfjord and then on to the Roskildefjord. Visit Roskilde Cathedral, the burial place of many Danish kings and, should you wish to, follow in the footsteps of the Vikings as you row and sail across the fjord from the harbour in replicas of the old Viking ships. You’ll find tonight’s accommodation in Roskilde and surroundings.
Day 7: Roskilde - Copenhagen, approx. 44km
Your final stage sees you cycle the short route to the Danish capital. Spend the afternoon exploring Copenhagen with a visit to Tivoli or enjoy a Wienerbröd and a cup of coffee in a cosy café before you return the rental bikes to the hotel. You’ll spend your final night in Copenhagen.
Day 8: Departure from Copenhagen
Following your final overnight stay in Copenhagen and breakfast you will depart and make your own way home. Travel by Berlin bus from Copenhagen to Berlin or by train from Copenhagen to Nykøbing, then by bus to Gedser, then by ferry to Rostock.
This tour is mainly along the coastal routes of the Danish Baltic Sea Coast predominantly along cycle paths and close to the beach.

About the Rental Bikes
This cycling holiday uses quality crossbar and unisex hybrid bikes. Quality Shimano components and puncture-proof tyres are among the components that will ensure you have an enjoyable cycle tour.
You will also receive a handlebar bag and map holder for easy navigation while. Prices advertised on the website include standard bike hire (unless stated). Colour and specification may vary from the image shown.

Accessories
If you would like GPX files for a suitable device, please request them at the time of booking. Devices are not provided. Please ensure you bring any fittings required to attach the Garmin (or similar) to the handlebars. You might want to download maps onto your phone to avoid data charges when roaming.
All bikes are provided with standard flat pedals. You can bring your own cycling pedals but ensure that you have the correct tools to remove the pedals if the tour does not have a welcome meeting. You may also not be able to travel through airports with the tools if you are carrying hand luggage only.
You can rent a men's bike with a crossbar, unisex/female bike with a sloping tube or an electric bike for a supplement.

Frame Sizing
When you make a booking with us, we take your height(s) and the appropriate bike size is matched up accordingly. Unisex frame 21-gears with freewheel. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 / 43 cm. Unisex 7-gears-bikes with back pedalling brake. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 cm. Men’s speed bikes 21-gears with free wheel and crossbar. Sizes: 64 / 60 / 56 "sloping" cm. Helmets are not provided, and you will need to bring your own to use.
We always recommend wearing a helmet when on your cycling holiday!
Bike Hire Insurance
This cycle tour benefits from bike insurance against rental bike theft and damage in the holiday price. Please make sure you lock up the bike, leave it where told by the hotel, and treat your hire bicycle as if the bike was your own. Any negligent treatment of the bike will exempt you from cover. We advise you to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance for your cycling holiday prior to arrival.
Electric Bike Hire
Why not upgrade your cycling experience to an E-Bike (Electric Bike)? Using a power assisted bike is a great way to go on a cycling holiday and will help you smooth out inclines or longer days in the saddle. Each E-Bike features an LCD display, removable batteries for easy charging, and assistance up to 25 km/h. They have a range of around 120 km for each full charge.
