Starting in the capital of Bavaria itself, Munich, enjoy the various landmarks, historical sites, and magnificent gardens. Cycle through the south of Germany and discover the hidden gems of Bavaria, embracing yourself in the unique and traditional Bavarian lifestyle as you pass through various historical towns such as Murnau am Staffelsee, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Bad Tölz, offering you an authentic taste of Bavarian culture. You will first- hand experience Bavaria’s breathtakingly beautiful scenery along the way, riding alongside impressive mountain peaks in the Bavarian Alps, rolling hills, charming green meadows, romantic valleys, and tranquil lakes with beautiful blue waters. Take a relaxing, leisurely cycle and free your mind and body, all whilst immersing yourself in Bavarian tradition and unspoiled nature.
Day 1- Arrive in Munich:
On your first day, you will receive a welcome briefing and bike fitting, ready for you to discover the magical city of Munich and the many wonders that the Bavarian capital has to offer such as the Marienplatz, English Garden and Nymphenburg Palace.
Day 2- Munich to Murnau- Staffelsee (approximately 65km):
Starting the tour in Munich, you will ride through Forstenrieder Park to Bavaria’s second largest lake, Lake Starnberg. From there, you will cycle along the lakeside road to Seeshaupt and proceed through various charming, historical Bavarian towns, passing the Osterseen Lakes and Lake Riegsee and arriving at the market town of Murnau am Staffelsee.
Day 3- Murnau am Staffelsee- Garmisch Partenkirchen (approximately 40km):
On day 3, you will cycle through the Murnauer Moos nature reserve, which is the largest swamp area of Central Europe, and continue riding along the River Loisach until you reach the picturesque town of Garmisch Partenkirchen, located in the Bavarian Alps. This stage is intended to be brief, allowing you the opportunity to take an individual trip to Zugspitzbahn, a mountain railway that takes you to the top of Germany's highest mountain. At an altitude of 2962 meters, you will experience truly breath-taking views of the Alps.
Day 4- Garmisch Partenkirchen- Wallgau (approximately 45km + train journey):
You will take a short train ride to Scharnitz, bridging an altitude of 300 metres, and follow an uphill cycle route taking you through magnificent rocky gorges and lushly green meadows, leading you to the spring of the River Isar. Next, you will cycle back through a peaceful valley, offering extensive breath-taking views of the Karwendal (the largest mountain range of the Northern Limestone Alps), and Wettersteingebirge mountain group. You will pass through the Alpine town of Mittenwald and eventually arrive in the traditional Bavarian village of Wallgau.
Day 5- Wallgau- Bad Tölz (approximately 50 km):
Passing through the Isarwinkel, you will take a scenic ride alongside the picturesque, turquoise waters of Lake Sylvenstein. Surrounded by stunning scenery and magical landscapes, you will pass the small Alps town of Lenggries and finally arrive in charming town of Bad Tölz, known for its spas and spectacular views that it offers of the Alps and Isar River.
Day 6- Bad Tölz- Tegernsee – Bad Tölz (approximately 45 km):
You will ride through the gloriously green Tegernsee countryside to Gmund am Tegernsee, where you will be able to marvel at the beautiful, tranquil Lake Tegernsee and its stunning surrounding mountain landscape. Passing through the Gaißbach valley, you will be welcomed back into Bad Tölz, allowing you to time to explore the location of famous German TV show ‘Der Bulle von Tölz’, and take in the beautiful Bavarian architecture of its baroque town houses located on the historic Marktstraße.
Day 7- Bad Tölz – Munich (approximately 60 km):
Following the Isar Cycle Route, you will leave Bad Tölz and ride through the Bavarian towns of Geretsried and Wolfratshausen directly into Grünwald. From here, you will take on a number of short climbs before arriving back into the starting destination of Munich, where you have the opportunity to explore the capital of Bavaria in more detail, with its many sights and attractions awaiting you.
Day 8- Departure or Extension:
With the tour coming to an end, you will return your bike if you rented one and collect your luggage. You will either depart Munich on this day, or alternatively there is an option to extend your stay if you wish.
Difficulty Level: Medium.
Overall, this tour is relatively easy. There are a number of short climbs along the way, however you can overcome these by pushing your bike if needed. The route will allow you to cycle on stunning bike paths and minor roads, with main roads only being used for short distances. The route is mostly paved, with some longer passages on forest tracks, however all tracks are in good condition.

Flights are available with a number of airlines to your required airport or you can travel to the start using alternative methods such as rail or road.

About the Rental Bikes
This cycling holiday uses quality crossbar and unisex hybrid bikes. Quality Shimano components and puncture-proof tyres are among the components that will ensure you have an enjoyable cycle tour.
You will also receive a handlebar bag and map holder for easy navigation while. Prices advertised on the website include standard bike hire (unless stated). Colour and specification may vary from the image shown.

Accessories
If you would like GPX files for a suitable device, please request them at the time of booking. Devices are not provided. Please ensure you bring any fittings required to attach the Garmin (or similar) to the handlebars. You might want to download maps onto your phone to avoid data charges when roaming.
All bikes are provided with standard flat pedals. You can bring your own cycling pedals but ensure that you have the correct tools to remove the pedals if the tour does not have a welcome meeting. You may also not be able to travel through airports with the tools if you are carrying hand luggage only.
You can rent a men's bike with a crossbar, unisex/female bike with a sloping tube or an electric bike for a supplement.

Frame Sizing
When you make a booking with us, we take your height(s) and the appropriate bike size is matched up accordingly. Unisex frame 21-gears with freewheel. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 / 43 cm. Unisex 7-gears-bikes with back pedalling brake. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 cm. Men’s speed bikes 21-gears with free wheel and crossbar. Sizes: 64 / 60 / 56 "sloping" cm. Helmets are not provided, and you will need to bring your own to use.
We always recommend wearing a helmet when on your cycling holiday!
Bike Hire Insurance
This cycle tour benefits from bike insurance against rental bike theft and damage in the holiday price. Please make sure you lock up the bike, leave it where told by the hotel, and treat your hire bicycle as if the bike was your own. Any negligent treatment of the bike will exempt you from cover. We advise you to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance for your cycling holiday prior to arrival.
Electric Bike Hire
Why not upgrade your cycling experience to an E-Bike (Electric Bike)? Using a power assisted bike is a great way to go on a cycling holiday and will help you smooth out inclines or longer days in the saddle. Each E-Bike features an LCD display, removable batteries for easy charging, and assistance up to 25 km/h. They have a range of around 120 km for each full charge.
