A summer trip combining history and nature
Enjoy a holiday in the area where the former Emperor Franz Josef and his wife Sissi would spend their holidays and as a result created the term “Sommerfrische” meaning “summer health resort”. Following suit, other aristocrats quickly started spending the hot summer months in the ‘healthy’ region of the Salzkammergut. You can see remnants of their time here with extravagant villas and grand houses. You may also have seen the works of artist Gustav Klimt, who was a frequent visitor here and spent time on the lakes painting the breath-taking natural scenery. A perfect mix of cultural, scenic, and culinary delights awaits you each day, as if cycling through a world of fairy-tales that had come true.
