Explore the heartland of flamenco as you travel from the vibrant city of Sevilla to the wonderful sandy beaches of Cádiz. Take in the historic hilltop towns of Carmona and Arcos de la Frontera as you travel through stunning landscapes of sunflower fields, olive groves and Mediterranean woodland. You’ll experience the unique atmosphere of our hand-picked Andalusian Hacienda hotel as well as the grandeur and comfort of the spectacular Parador hotels in beautifully restored hill top fortresses. Your ultimate destination on this tour is Cádiz, the oldest city in western Europe. Its rich history, monuments and stunning beaches will ensure you’ll fall in love with his beautiful and ancient city.
Day 1: Arrival in Sevilla
You’ll begin your tour in the vibrant, charismatic city of Sevilla. The culture, history and folklore of this magical city make it an exceptional international tourist destination.
Day 2: Sevilla to Carmona approx. 50km / Climb 485m
Cycling along the network of cycle lanes beside the river Guadaira and through fields of sunflowers and cereals you reach the hilltop town of Carmona; another jewel of Andalucía. This historic walled town boasts churches, palaces and an imposing Arab fortress. You’ll spend tonight at The Alcazar, now converted into the Parador Hotel.
Day 3: Carmona to Montellano approx. 68km / Climb 594m
Your journey continues along cycle tracks and winding country roads to the small historic town of Montellano. This is a long but easy ride along the plains amongst fields and olive groves passing several small traditional towns along the way where you can stop for a refreshing beer and a chilled 'Jerez'! You’ll find tonight’s accommodation in a lovingly converted farmhouse: Hacienda La Morena, a real customer favourite which provides the perfect opportunity to take an extra night, if you’d like a rest day by the pool surrounded nature.
Day 4: Montellano to Arcos de la Frontera approx. 60km / Climb 609m
You’ll spend today cycling along very quiet country roads and a "Via Verde" (a pretty railway line now converted into a cycle lane). From Montellano, you travel through stunning landscapes of Mediterranean woodland along the river Guadalete, with the mountains of Grazalema in the distance. Stop for lunch in the, typically Andalusian, town of Puerto Serrano before continuing on to Arcos de la Frontera, one of the most photogenic hilltop towns in Spain.
Day 5: Arcos to Jerez de la Frontera approx. 56km / Climb 410m
Today brings another delightful ride, this time along gently rolling hills following the river Guadalete downstream into the very heartland of Flamenco: Jerez de la Frontera. In this town famous for its School of Andalusian Dressage Horses and sherry wineries you will hear music on every corner!
Day 6: Jerez to Cádiz approx. 65km / Climb 103m
Head to the coast, on your final day of cycling, as you reach the sandy beaches of Puerto de Santa María where you can visit one of the many restaurants serving delicious fresh fish or take a dip and enjoy the Andalusian sunshine. You’ll continue south to your final destination; the impressive city of Cádiz. Thought to be the oldest city in western Europe, its monuments and stunning beaches will ensure you won't want to leave!
Spend your final night in the splendid luxury of the modern Parador, ending your trip on a real high note.
