From Aix-en-Provence the route heads north.
Nowhere else you can see the highlights of Provence as well as you can here. Passing through the village of Gordes, the ochre town of Rousillon and the castle of the Marquis de Sade, Château de Lacoste.
Day 1: Individual arrival to Aix-en-Provence
Stroll through the lanes of the old city, walk on the tracks of Cézannes and enjoy your time in one of the numerous Cafés. One overnight in Aix-en-Provence.
Day 2: Aix-en-Provence – Pertuis, approx. 55 km
Today you start your tour to Silvacane. We recommend visiting abbey Silvacane, a Cistercian ab-bey of this region. Afterwards you will get to know a few of the most beautiful villages on your ride to Pertuis. One overnight in Pertuis.
Day 3: Pertuis – Apt, approx. 60 km
Your tour becomes more ambitious. You cycle through the nature park of Luberon where you will manage an altitude of 700 m. Afterwards you cycle downhill through the nature park to Céreste and along the range of Grand Luberon to Apt. One overnight in Apt.
Day 4: Apt – Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, approx. 55 km
Again you cross the nature park, where you will pass villages like Bonnieux, Lacoste and Méner-bes. At the end Isle-sur-la-Sorgue with its romantic water wheels is awaiting you (approx 55 km). One overnight in L´Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Day 5: Isle-sur-la-Sorgue – St. Rémy, approx. 35-55 km
Via Cavaillon you cycle to St. Rémy, the most typical city of Provence. Enjoy the goings in the lanes, the colourfulness and the fragrant herbs (approx. 35 km). Alternatively you can take the way via Avignon with its famous Papel Palace. (approx. 55 km). One overnight in St. Rémy.
Day 6: St. Rémy – Salon-de-Provence, approx. 45 – 55 km
From St. Rémy you cycle across the Alpilles to Salon-de-Provence. If you want to cycle more you should choose the longer stage via Les Baux and Mausanne. Nostradamus lived here in the 16th century. One overnight in Salon-de-Provence.
Day 7: Salon-de-Provence – Aix-en-Provence, approx. 50 km
What about a stroll through Salon-de-Provence? You should visit the fortress “Chateau de l´Emperi” or the collegiate church. Your cycle tour leads you via Pélissane, Lambesc and Eguilles back to Aix-en-Provence. One overnight in Aix-en-Provence.
Day 8: Departure
Your tour is completed after breakfast. Individual return journey.
The route leads through hilly terrain and so this tour is ideal for those with some experience of cycling.

Most of the cycling will be on small roads and asphalted side roads, sections will be on the bike path Luberon à vélo .

Flights are available with a number of airlines to your required airport or you can travel to the start using alternative methods such as rail or road.

You do not need to go back to the starting point of the cycling holiday as all hire bikes are left at the final hotel.

The Provence and the Luberon Valley cycling holiday includes the daily transfer of luggage to the next hotel and local support if required.

This cycling holiday uses city-bikes made with an aluminium frame and kitted out with responsive brakes and up to 27 Shimano gears. Plus: mudguards, trip computers, comfort gel saddles, flat-palmed grips, Schwalbe Marathon anti-puncture tyres as standard. They are available as either male or unisex frames.
When you make a booking with us, we take your height(s) and the appropriate bike size is matched up accordingly.
Helmets are not provided and you will need to bring your own to use. We always recommend wearing a helmet when on your cycling holiday.
E-Bike Upgrades:
Why not upgrade your cycling experience to an E-Bike (Electric Bike)? Using a power assisted bike is a great way to go on a cycling holiday and will help you smooth out inclines or longer days in the saddle. Each E-Bike features an LCD display, removable batteries for easy charging and assistance up to 25 km/h with a range of around 120 km for each full charge depending on usage.
