Optional highlight is a day on Norderney island.
Day 1: Individual journey to Oldenburg
This circular tour will commence from the bicycle centre Oldenburg . After the a welcome and information meeting, the day is free to explore Oldenburg . You will spend the night in Oldenburg.
Day 2: Oldenburg – Wiesmoor approx. 55 km
The first stage of your cycling tour will guide you, by bike, through the "Ammerland" region, known for its tidy little rhododendron gardens. Next comes the health resort Bad Zwischenahn on "Zwischenahner Meer", which has a well known speciality to offer: Smoortaal – fresh smoked eel. You pass the highest elevation of East-Friesland (18 m) near Remels and reach Wiesmoor. You spend one night in Wiesmoor.
Day 3: Wiesmoor – Aurich – Emden approx. 55 km
After passing through Fehn-settlements, you reach "Aurich" with its historic centre. The East-Friesian capital was ruled for centuries by East-Friesian chieftains and dukes. Along Ems-Jade-Canal you cycle to Emden with its sea-port. Emden was, at one time, one of the wealthiest harbours of Europe. You should explore the vibrant art and culture with a visit to the arts hall and Otto-museum. One night stay in Emden.
Day 4: Emden – Norden/surroundingss, approx. 55 km
Today, you will cycle through “Krummhörn” to picturesque fisher village Greetsiel, the biggest crab-fisher port of Weser-Ems region. Don´t miss the opportunity to sample a couple of local shrimps. You will pass the bay of Ley, where, if you are lucky you might spot seals. Then, you cycle to Norden, resp. Norddeich on wadden sea (Wattenmeer). You will spend one night in Norden or the surrounding area.
Day 5: Excursion to Norderney island or rest day
Norderney is the oldest health-bath at the North Sea, and has been popular, for over than 200 years, with people looking for recuperation. The ferry takes from Norddeich to the island takes around 1 hr and the island is ideally suited to being explored by bicycle. Enjoy the beach-life and National Park Wattenmeer (mud-flats). Ferry cruise incl. bicycle hire is not included in the package price, visitor´s tax payable locally. One night to be spent in Norden.
Day 6: Norden/surroundings – Wittmund/surrounding, approx. 50 km
Upon leaving Norden you will follow close to the coast, and cycle on the dyke to Dornum with the most beautiful water-castle of East-Friesland. Cycling through the marshes, you will eventually reach the ancient East-Friesian chieftain domicile Esens which houses a medieval old town. Overnight you will stay at Wittmund or closer surrounding.
Day 7: Wittmund/surrounding – Dangast, approx. 50 km
Leaving Wittmund, your first stop is castle Gödens. Along "Zeteler marsh" you cycle to "Jadebusen". Nestling between forest and sea, Varel with Dangast, the oldest North Sea bath on Niedersachsen´s coast, constitutes not only an attraction for art-lovers, who wish to follow the traces of famous Expressionists (Radziwill-museum). Overnight you will stay in Dangast or surrounding.
Day 8: Dangast – Oldenburg - Departure approx. 50 km
On winding roads, today you will cycle to animal and fun park Jaderberg, home to more than 600 animals. Later, you continue your tour to Rastede which was used to be summer residence of Oldenburg´s dukes and earls. Cycle through the spacious park towards Oldenburg . No overnight stay Oldenburg. Today is the end of the tour and time for departure.

How to get there
Bremen Airport is the closest to the start point of this cycle tour.
Fly to Bremen. Take the train (Bahn) from Bremen airport to the main train station in Oldenburg. Good rail connection to Oldenburg, Duration approx. 0.5 h.
Parking
Public parking area near the starting hotel, free of charge. Hotel garage approx. € 5,- per day. No reservation possible, payable at the starting hotel.
Flights are available with a number of airlines to your required airport or you can travel to the start using alternative methods such as rail or road.
We recommend using Skyscanner to find the best flight prices by date or Rail Europe for European rail travel. There is customer car parking available at most hotels for a supplement. Please contact us for more details.

Rental Bikes
You can take your own bikes on our tour, but keep in mind that our bikes are optimally provided for the conditions of the routes and we include a bike insurance. You can select between either a 7-gear-bike with hand brake or a 21-gear-bike or electric bike. Please specify your wish at the booking. Each bike will be provided with a saddlebags.
